Choquequirao chosen as the best travel destination in 2017
The citadel of Choquequirao was placed as one of the 30 destinations in the world to visit in 2017 in the Regions category by the prestigious Lonely Planet, one of the largest travel guides in the world. When talking about Cusco, immediately the Citadel of Machu Picchu comes to mind, one of the 7 wonders of the world dating back to the Inca period. But in addition, this department in the Peruvian highlands has Choquequirao, which has just been chosen as the top destination in its category in a Best in Travel 2017 list, one of the most renowned rankings on tourist destinations recommended by international travel experts. This list was published by Lonely Planet, considered the leading travel guide worldwide. The ranking describes the citadel of Choquequirao as a perfect place to sit, unwind, enjoy a spectacular view of the mountains, follow the extensive course of the Apurímac River, and witness the impressive flight of condors. Choquequirao has surpassed tourist spots like Taranaki in New Zealand, North Wales, South Australia, North Wales, etc. To create this ranking, travel guide authors and specialized users are called upon to recommend places of interest that, in their opinion, must be visited the following year. This is how this challenging list was determined. BEST IN TRAVEL 2017 - TOP REGIONS Choquequirao, Peru Taranaki, New Zealand The Azores, Portugal North Wales, UK South Australia Aysén, Chile The Tuamotus, French Polynesia Coastal Georgia, USA Perak, Malaysia The Skellig Ring, Ireland Source: published by Lonely Planet: The 10 best regions to travel to in 2017 Choquequirao has structures very similar to Machu Picchu with terraces for agriculture, central plazas for gatherings, and also served as a bastion of resistance against the Spanish attack. Due to all these characteristics and importance, it is considered the "Sacred Sister". The site was discovered around 1768, but was not considered important at the time. It was even mentioned by two Frenchmen between 1834 and 1847, but it remained in the same situation. Hiram Bingham, the discoverer of Machu Picchu, highlighted the site's relevance during his 1911 expedition, but restoration work on the complex was not carried out until the 1970s. It is believed that Choquequirao was built with the function of being a place to control access to Vilcabamba and to serve as an administrative center. According to legend, what also makes the place important is that it is said to have functioned as a refuge for the Inca people after the Spanish invasion. This archaeological complex covers an area of 2 hectares. What are you waiting for? For all these reasons, you must visit Choquequirao, one of the top recommended places to visit in 2017 worldwide. We recommend embarking on the adventure of trekking to this citadel, a unique activity that we are sure you will not regret.
3 lugares para hacer parapente en Lima
In recent years, paragliding has been developing as one of the most well-known and practiced adventure sports in our capital, with Miraflores being the most popularly known point. Soaring through the air at over 800 meters high in a paraglider is an experience that everyone should live at least once in their life; the feeling of freedom is unique. That is why we present a list of 3 places to practice this sport in Lima. Miraflores It is one of the most exclusive and touristic districts of the capital, and also the closest point to experience the adventure of paragliding. This place offers flying over the Lima coast, providing a spectacular view of the city. Takeoff and landing take place from the paragliding site located in Antonio Raimondi Park on Malecón Cisneros. You start from 100 meters high and can reach a maximum point of 250 meters in elevation. Thanks to the good weather conditions, it is possible to experience this activity in any season, although winter is the most recommended. Pachacámac Located 31 kilometers away, this place is officially considered the first tourist district of Peru. People come from the center of the capital to soar over 1000 meters high practicing paragliding. There are 2 takeoff points, one from El Manzano hill and the other from Punta Blanca hill. The takeoff height is 500 meters, and you can reach over 1000 meters in elevation. The best season to experience this adventure is between December and April, when the area has optimal wind conditions for this sport. There are agencies that offer this service starting from S/ 240, depending on the inclusions and flight time. Pasamayo This spot is located north of Lima, on a slope of nearly vertical 400-meter-high dunes, with a length of approximately 4 kilometers. The exact takeoff point is from the Pasamayo dunes, mostly at the highest point (there is no fixed point due to the unstable terrain with constant variation). You start from 400 meters high and reach a maximum of 1000 meters in elevation; the landing point can be on the same dune or on Toma and Calla beach located below. This is a recommended scenario for experts, as the starting point presents significant difficulty. Paragliding is possible throughout the year at this location, except on days when the area experiences intense fog that obstructs visibility.

Bungee Jumping: Recommendations and Safety Measures
Did you know that bungee jumping is a low-risk sport, as long as you know how to do it properly? Generally, the opposite is thought. However, the former does not mean that you should not take the necessary precautions. On the contrary. Here are some safety measures and recommendations that you should take before taking the big leap, and you must ensure that they are rigorously followed before facing or backing into the void. Some safety measures: A bad jump This is the greatest risk, especially if you are a beginner, nerves can play a trick on you. When it's time to jump with the harness around your waist and facing the void, do not lean back. The latter could injure your waist. Untested bridge Make sure that the bridge from which you are going to jump is not only suitable for this adventure sport, but has been tested before. Remember that the ideal bridge for bungee jumping, in terms of height, should be more than twice its own width. Regarding the ropes When bungee jumping, make sure there is no excess rope, especially on bridges of unusual heights, as the former would only affect both the material used and yourself who wish to practice this adventure sport. Another important point regarding the ropes is that the tensions of the ropes do not match. Remember that there should only be a single rope supporting you at the moment of the jump. The latter helps soften the fall. And to finish with the ropes, there must be a correct installation to prevent you from hitting a side or the rope from breaking. Some Recommendations: Weight and age If you want to practice this adventure sport, you should not weigh more than 100 kilos and be between 18 and 55 years old. However, children under 12 years old can also practice bungee jumping, as long as they have their parents' permission, and they must weigh at least 38 kilos. It goes without saying that both groups must be physically fit to engage in this activity. Type of clothing to wear To bungee jump, you will need to wear pants that are not too short so that the harness does not bother you, and a long-sleeved high-necked shirt. This way, you will avoid any friction. In addition, wear gloves to avoid any rubbing and friction with the ropes to be used. Zero energy drinks and toxic substances You cannot consume any type of energy drink before or during this adventure sport. Much less and it is more than obvious, you cannot take toxic substances either. Finally, remember that when bungee jumping, you must jump only if you are given permission. Doing otherwise would only mean breaking the rules and the clear explanations of the person guiding you so that you can finally make "the leap." If you take the necessary precautions and corresponding safety measures, nothing should go wrong. Practicing this adventure sport will take all the stress off you and you will experience new sensations and, of course, a great adrenaline rush. Diving: discover the impressive underwater world in Northern Peru
Talking about the north of Peru is not only about commenting on the beauty of its beaches and its delicious gastronomy; it is also synonymous with diving. So, if you are thinking about practicing this adventure sport, you definitely have to make a stop in this region. Privileged Zone Some destinations in the north of our country are ideal for diving, due to the characteristics they present, such as the fact that they have both currents; both the northern one, that is tropical, warm waters, and of course the Humboldt current, which is cold waters. Therefore, the sea water temperature is completely comfortable for diving. And not only that, but this privileged zone has an extraordinary sea richness: a thousand species of fish, both from warm and cold currents. This means that you will find colorful fish, just like the ones you find in the Caribbean! Such as gray fish. If you dive in this area of Peru, you can delight your eyes with sea turtles, seahorses, sea lions, and even whales. Video: SpondylusDiveCenter (Plataforma de Órganos) Some diving spots in the north El Ñuro Where is it located? 6.6 kilometers from Órganos. El Ñuro is a fishing cove, a place where you will appreciate a whole colony of green turtles, a species that is in danger of extinction. When diving in this cove, you will see these turtles in their natural habitat. In this area, you can go down to a depth of 7 or 8 meters. If you are a beginner, then this place awaits you with open arms to practice this adventure sport. Plataforma de Órganos It is located 20 minutes away, where you have to take a boat from the Órganos dock to approach the Oil Platform, which is abandoned, and whose anchoring legs reach a depth of 70 meters. The foundations have given rise to this artificial reef for diving. But how? Well, coral, mollusks, and snails have grown in these parts of the platform. Perfect food for schools of fish. Here, if you decide to practice this adventure sport, but especially if you have extensive experience, you can go down to a depth of 30 meters. Also, you will receive the pleasant visit of sea lions, which usually come down when there are divers in this area. Arrecifes de Punta Sal In these reefs, you will swim among tropical fish, turtles, octopuses, and seahorses. An entire experience! Here, if you dive in this area, you can go down between 12 and 18 meters deep. So, if you are an intermediate diver, this is your ideal place to practice this fascinating adventure sport. Venturing into this unknown but wonderful marine world makes diving an activity that allows you not only to surround yourself with different marine species, but also to appreciate how great and wise Mother Nature is, to live with her, to feel her, and to touch her. Come on, head to the north of Peru, and immerse yourself in this new adventure!
The Challenge of Rowing: V6 Kon-tiki 2016 Challenge
The Balneario de Punta Hermosa was the starting point for those who took on the challenge of paddling for over 4 hours a distance of 35 km to Playa Yuyos in Barranco. We were accompanied by a radiant sun, which, rather than being a difficulty, became a great source of energy for the 4 teams, and also the mental strength of each participant was vital to reach the end of the route. Paddle on! Four canoes departed at 9am. One of them was made up of the Master Category, the second by the Women's Category, and the other two by the Juniors Category. Everyone was excited to go out and test themselves in an adventure that has not been easy to accomplish. Let's paddle!!! Master Category leading The Master Category made their level respected, they were the fastest paddlers and advanced, their agility and physical strength made them disappear from sight in the sea at times. This reflects that they are a team that maintains a steady pace according to their endurance. That is to say, if everyone is in good condition, they will paddle faster, if the team wears out, the pace slows down, but never stops. This allowed them to take the lead in the 35 km and 4 and a half hours that the challenge lasted. Admiring the effort made by the Women, who maintained a very steady pace, thanks to the determination they put into each stroke and the work of their helmsman, Flavia, who directed the journey to go in the right direction and not face the area where the waves break, a place where the journey becomes very difficult. Their canoe was the last to arrive, but it is important to mention something very important, the team that got on in Punta Hermosa was the same team that paddled to Barranco, they did not make any changes. Definitely admirable. The Juniors want to paddle and paddle The two Junior canoes at times fought for second place, both advancing at a good pace. From the beginning, they started paddling with intensity, showing that they did not want to stop and that they had energy to spare. This challenge has meant a great test of their physical and mental endurance in long and demanding routes, like those presented in international competitions. It was a very peculiar adventurous day in the Lima sea, which at times showed us beautiful natural landscapes, and most importantly managed to put into practice the skills of all participants, who are preparing for their next international competition, in order to raise the country's name high in an aquatic discipline that is beginning to achieve goals with athletes who love what they do. Clubs like Inka Noa and Naylamp Club know how to take advantage of the sea we have by organizing adventure activities like this, thus getting more people interested in this sport, and those who already know it to enhance their skills even more. Peru, chosen as the best destination for adventure tourism in 2016
Once again, Peru finds itself in the eyes of the world. This time it is part of the top ten places in the world that people must visit if they want to do adventure tourism. Today, it holds the ninth place in a ranking made by the prestigious travel guide "Rough Guides", where its readers voted and consider Peru a country that must not be missed this year. The most remarkable thing about this choice is that it is the only place in South America that is in the ranking, leaving behind countries with a high level of tourism. But that's another story, the truth is that Peru this year represents South America as one of the best places for adventure tourism. Peru is rubbing shoulders with destinations like Nepal, which occupies the first place, as well as the Philippines, Myanmar, India, Iceland, Greece, Vietnam, the United States, and Thailand. This recognition by world travelers in the Rough Guides travel guide should be an incentive to continue working on promoting adventure tourism in Peru, with places that already have worldwide recognition and also in the dissemination of new tourist attractions that generate a strong impact on the minds of national and foreign tourists every day. This is a job for both authorities and especially for citizens, who are the first and last contact with future visitors. Locals must strive to provide the best service, take care of our cities and tourist attractions, be proud of our history, in short, have and preserve Peru's cultural identity. Long live Peru and adventure tourism Rich mountains, beautiful lands, smiling beaches, snow-capped peaks, recites a musical composition that all Peruvians carry in their minds, and we have the privilege of living in this part, which is full of incredible places where many travelers choose to settle; incredible landscapes that amaze adventure tourism enthusiasts; with ancient structures that surprise the whole world, that's how rich Peru is. Peru is definitely an adventurous destination, thanks to the impressive Machu Picchu, the mysterious Nazca Lines, the Cordillera Blanca, Mancora, Punta Sal, the Colca Canyon, and countless destinations for adventure tourism. Having a country that includes Coast, Highlands, and Jungle is something to admire and envy. So, being one of the best travel destinations this year 2016, let's take advantage of going on adventures, engaging in outdoor activities, experiencing new things, perceiving the sounds, aromas, and colors that Peruvian nature offers.
Piccolo Clemente: Two-Time World Longboard Surf Champion
Piccolo Clemente has the joy of being Peruvian, and the pride of having been born in Huanchaco, Trujillo. A city that will always have the presence of the Pacific Ocean in front of it, a place where Piccolo has excelled in the sport that he is most passionate about, achieving enviable and not easy results, such as being a TWO-TIME WORLD CHAMPION. Let's meet Piccolo Clemente. His name is Benoit Clemente Rotfuss. When he was 8 years old, he began his journey with a board, starting with a Morey (type of board) that was given to him by a neighbor in Huanchaco. It took 3 years for Piccolo Clemente to win the first title of his life, in a local Longboard championship, and from that moment on, he didn't stop riding waves and achieving national, South American, and eventually world achievements. His nickname "Piccolo" comes from the name of a restaurant managed by his father, who was also called by the same nickname, coincidentally the name of the restaurant was "El Piccolo". It is worth mentioning that Piccolo is the manager of his surfboard company, reaching markets like Venezuela and Ecuador, boards with which he competed in the last championship held in China. Titles he has achieved Piccolo has tested himself in different tournaments, achieving glory in many of them, from national to world championships. In 2008, he won the National Longboard Surf Championship, then the Huanchaco Longboard Pro Peru 2010, 2011, where he was also the champion. He also participated in the South American championship held in Chile where he finished third. From there, he moved on to compete in the big leagues, such as the ASP Longboard World Championship in 2013, where he became the world champion of the sport he is so passionate about. Piccolo Clemente, Two-Time World Champion Since that year 2014 in which he was quickly eliminated, Piccolo prepared himself with great dedication, aiming to have a rematch and win. And he did. The time came to be once again in a final, facing the American Taylor Jensen, who scored 17.70 points, while Piccolo Clemente obtained 18.30, thus giving him a new world title, the second for him. This demonstrates, as he himself says, that it was all thanks to his hard training, the quality of waves he had that day, and we also say that it was thanks to his courage, that feeling of wanting a rematch and winning it, of seeking success after a "failure", that perseverance that characterizes few Peruvians. Piccolo Clemente adds one more title, he is now the current Two-Time World Champion of Longboard Surf, and it would not surprise us if he is already preparing to win the title again this year. Let's learn more about Va'a or Outrigger in Peru Va'a, Polynesian Canoes or Outrigger, is one of the many water sports that has been developing at a good pace in our country for the past 5 years, thanks to the dedication and passion towards this sport by Rafael Belmont and Flavia Chavez-Tafur, who demonstrated their real interest with the construction of the first canoe made in Peru. To all this, we add the work of Carlos León and instructors, in promoting the practice of this water sport among young people, who are starting to achieve their first accomplishments and are the future of this sport. South American Va'a Championship Peru 2013 It is worth mentioning that Peru hosted the South American Va'a Championship in 2013, showing a great image in terms of organization, and at a sports level some Peruvian athletes won medals in their respective disciplines. This made the Peruvian National Team start gaining more consideration when competing, in addition to arousing the interest of the IPD and starting the path to consolidate a Federation. Peruvian Va'a Team in Santos, Brazil The last edition of the South American championship took place in Santos, Brazil. The Peruvian Team formed a delegation of more than 30 athletes distributed in the Junior, Master, and Open categories. As they themselves express, it has been a very rewarding experience because they have managed to develop their technique and ability to paddle in other waters. [caption id="attachment_2806" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Santiago Murrugarra - Peruvian Va'a Team The sea of Brazil has not been a major obstacle, besides having a very pleasant temperature, they affirm that its waters are calm when they enter with their canoes, however, when they have paddled more kilometers out to sea, the difficulty increases slightly. [caption id="attachment_2804" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Renzo Landa, Yair Correa, Manuel Inga This championship has been very encouraging for all the athletes of the team to continue growing and sacrificing to reach a sports level in line with other countries in the region, such as Brazil, which has a greater number of boats and years of experience. So the young members of the Peruvian Va'a Team have returned with all the enthusiasm to do things right and grow little by little. We must highlight the work done by the clubs InkaNoa, Naylamp, and Kamoho to promote the practice of new water sports for all ages. It is important to mention the development of the Junior category, which is starting to add new talents and medals.
