On February 1st, the Ultramarathon Challenge 2014 will take place at Asia Beach.
The ultramarathon is an adventure sport that is gaining more and more followers. And on the first of February, the beach Asia, south of Lima, will be the venue for this competition, which consists of a long-distance race, usually traveled on foot, where competitors cross trails, steep paths, and surfaces of different types. Carlos Maillard, Director of the Ultramarathon Endurance Challenge 2014, indicated that the circuit of this mountain race presents four distances that are run simultaneously: 10k, 21k, 50k, and 80k, the latter two being the so-called ultramarathons. Competitors cover different distances according to their level of preparation. It is estimated that the competition will start at 2 in the morning on the boulevard of Asia, and will traverse different hills and trails surrounding the area. Runner Manuel Figueroa, considered one of the favorites, has prepared for approximately two months to cover the 80 kilometers of the Ultramarathon Challenge 2014.
