Ampato Mountain
Description
This Nevado Ampato has an altitude of 6,288 meters above sea level as its maximum altitude. It is located within the Arequipa province of Caylloma, 80 km northwest of the city of Arequipa and to the south side of the Colca Canyon. Ampato means "toad," due to the silhouette that this mountain presents.
