The Ampato Mountain is an inactive volcano located in the province of Caylloma in the department of Arequipa, with an altitude of 6,288 meters above sea level. It is part of the Ampato Mountain Range.

Climate in Ampato Mountain:

The climate in Ampato is snowy, with temperatures ranging from 0°C, experiencing constant snowfalls, winds, storms, and hail in the area.

April - November: This is the most recommended season for adventure tourists, as the weather is cold and dry.

Routes to reach Ampato Mountain:

There are two access routes:

• Cabanaconde Route: takes 6 days. It is preferable for beginner climbers who have not yet acclimatized to the altitude.

• Sallali Route: Takes 3 days. It is faster for athletes who are already acclimated to the altitude.

Ascending requires mountaineering technical equipment and very good acclimatization.
