Experience the adventure of trekking in the Peruvian jungle and enjoy the natural pools of Betania.
To reach the community of Betania and its waterfalls and pools, it is approximately an hour of hiking. What can you find along the way? Medicinal plants and wildlife.
In summary: once in the community of Betania, ecological tourism begins, heading towards the Samaireni River. Furthermore, when you reach this last place, continue walking until you reach the natural pools.
Trekking in this area involves crossing Amazonian foliage and streams where the water can reach up to your knees.

Routes
The journey is not easy. It is a route for adventurers. First, the transfer is through a rough road, which is not in good condition. The land route: Satipo-Mazamari-Puerto Ocopa. Then? The boat trip with a motor to the native community of Betania, located on the left bank of the Tambo River, and the continuation through the jungle trail to the Samaireni River, ascending along its bank to the natural pool.

It is known that the central jungle is unbearably hot; however, between April and September, the weather is warm: ideal for trekking. What to Bring (Equipment)
It is recommended that you bring:
- Waterproof boots for trekking. Some agencies may suggest places to purchase them.
- Do remember to use sunscreen.
- Also, do not forget: sunglasses, swimwear, hiking shoes, and insect repellent.
- Additionally, you should bring a tracksuit and long-sleeved shirts, nothing synthetic to avoid feeling suffocated by the high temperatures.
- While you may like to wear shorts and short-sleeved shirts, this will only expose you to insects and plants that will make you uncomfortable during ecological tourism on the route.
- Please do not forget to bring plenty of energy food, water, and a light lunch.
Recommendations
While there is lodging available for tourists, there are no official food places or hotels in the area. However, the chief of the Betania community will support you by letting you try their typical food and brews. In conclusion, it is good to know that the entrance fee to the pools is 15 soles per person, approximately. Now, Let's live the adventure!
