Paragliding in Paracas

It has an absolutely dynamic flight, starting flights from 9 AM with winds of 15 Kph. and as the day progresses, this will progressively increase until reaching the afternoon with winds exceeding 50 Kph.

This flight zone has unparalleled take-off and access, with the slope ranging from 15 meters to 50 meters high, flying over the marine reefs, including one of the most beautiful ones. The winds are absolutely laminar and free of turbulence, allowing enjoyment from beginner pilots to advanced pilots looking for places where slope maneuvers are a delight and offer good safety margins.

In the Ica region, there are many places to practice paragliding, one of them being Paracas, especially in the area that includes the Reserved Zone. Flights in the Reserve, through authorized companies, can start from 9 in the morning, at any time of the year. It is important to note that as the day progresses, winds can increase up to 50 Km/h.

Paragliding over the territory of Paracas allows you to fly over the reefs within the reserve, including the well-known "La Catedral." It is recommended that if you are a novice in the field, opt for paragliding only in the morning hours, as afternoon winds are recommended for those who already have some mastery in the sport.

There are certain companies that also offer night flights in this area, although the schedule for these depends on each of the responsible agencies.

Where It Takes Place

The take-off point is on the side that used to be the Cathedral, which was a large rock formation caused by the erosion of the sea and wind over the centuries, inhabited by some sea lions and seabirds. Part of this great monument collapsed due to the violent 7.9 magnitude earthquake on August 15, 2007, with its epicenter in the sea.

Distance

The take-off point is only 20 meters, the ascending band formed when the wind hits the slope and is diverted upwards, causing gradual elevation. You can reach heights of over 300 meters during the flight.

Level

It is an easy level, suitable for anyone who can walk without problems, does not suffer from heart problems, and does not weigh more than 100 kg.

Duration

The flight time depends on the contracted service. Mostly it is a flight of 10 to 15 minutes, although there are also packages with a duration of 25 to 30 minutes.

Season

This adventure sport can be done throughout the year, but as known, paragliding depends on weather conditions for a good flight.

Prices for Paragliding in Paracas

Prices range between 250 and 400 soles. The second rate is for a longer flight, both mostly include transportation to the National Reserve of Paracas, as well as photos and videos of the flight.
