It is located in the province of Condesuyos, department of Arequipa. It has an altitude of 6,425 meters above sea level. Its name in Quechua means “Golden Mountain”. It is of volcanic origin, maintains a glacier that covers 7 peaks that make up the snow-capped mountain and the main summit located northeast of the mountain. Nevado Coropuna is considered the highest volcano in Peru. Due to its huge water reserve within its ice blocks, it is considered a glacier.
Climate in Nevado Coropuna:
The annual temperature is approximately 20°C.
- December - March: It is the rainy season, making the ascent for climbing difficult.

Route to reach Nevado Coropuna:
There are two options for climbing the mountain, but the main one is very challenging for ice climbers.
