The Vilcanota River is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Places or sections where rafting is done according to difficulty:
- Ollantaytambo:
Class II, III, III + (April to December)
- Quiquijana:
On the Vilcanota River, you can enjoy good rapids especially during the rainy seasons. Class II, III, IV (December to April).
- Chuquicahuana:
Class III, IV, more rapids (December to April)
- Cusipata, located southeast of Cusco, is an important river, ideal for rafting. Approximate time: The journey takes about 2 and a half hours with Class II and III currents.
Intensity of Rapids:
Class I, II, III, IV.
Season:
In this part of the river, it is recommended to practice rafting during the rainy season (December - May); in other months, it is not advisable as the river flow is very low.
- Rainy season (December to March):
The upper part of the river will be run (Quiquijana / Chuquicahuana).
- Dry season (April to November):
The lower part of the river will be run (Ollantaytambo / Huarán)
