Rafting on the Madre de Dios River
Sport: Canotaje
📝 Route Description
The Madre de Dios River runs through the lands of Tambopata, in the Madre de Dios region, and is a great circuit for practicing canoeing; the river's popularity for this sport is such that even some regatta competitions have been held in the area, where traditional canoes compete in the section of this current known as Alto de Madre de Dios.
Thanks to the slow flow of the Madre de Dios River, the area is ideal for those starting out in the sport; the river's calmness is such that visitors can even stop their boats there to swim, or engage in other activities. Any time of the year is good for navigating this river, and also to contemplate the rich fauna and flora that surrounds it.
