Ninth edition summary of the Santísimo Downhill, the most important downhill MTB competition in the country and one of the most renowned in the continent.
On April 23rd, in the town of Huayllabamba, Urubamba, Sacred Valley of Cusco hosted the 9th edition of the Santísimo Downhill, a MTB event that always brings together the main athletes from the continent. The Santísimo Downhill has become one of the most traditional mountain biking competitions in the region. This 9th edition featured 125 cyclists from Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, Argentina, and England.

RESULTS 9th SANTISIMO DOWNHILL 2017:
Chilean Pedro Ferreira took first place, being the fastest with a time of 3 minutes and 22.447 seconds for the 3.3-kilometer track. This year, the route had five large ramps, increasing the challenge and making it one of the most spectacular, fast, and dangerous routes with a 450-meter drop and a high level of difficulty. This, combined with the beautiful views and landscapes of the Valley.

Peruvian Alejandro Paz took second place, just 601 milliseconds behind Ferreira. Third, completing the podium, was also Peruvian Sebastián Alfaro with 3 minutes and 24.015 seconds. Very close times with a difference of just a second and a half between the top three. This result also marked the top positions in the Elite category.

A large crowd gathered at Huayllabamba's Plaza de Armas, known as the "World Capital of Corn," to witness the end of the race and cheer for their favorites.
