On June 2 and 3, the Andes Challenge Non Stop Peru 2018 was held, organized by the
Promotora SAVE. An event of extreme sports unique in the world. In which the great challenge was to climb the snowy Vallunaraju up to 5400 meters above sea level and descend to the port of Huarmey, Ancash.
12 competitors took on the challenge covering approximately 200 kilometers, combining activities such as
sky running,
cross-country racing, and
mountain biking in "singles" and relays (runner + cyclist) categories.
But the event was not only about promoting adventure sports, as a donation collection was organized to help prevent and combat cancer in the cities where these challenges took place. These cities were:
- Huaraz
- Cajamarquilla
- Pampas Grande
- Huanchay
- Culebras
- Huarmey
The event had participants from the Special Forces of the Peruvian Army, National Police, and General Fire Department of Peru, among other public and private institutions. A member of the National Police named Jesus Pinto won first place in the singles category; and Emerson Trujillo and César Sánchez in the relay category.
