In recent years, paragliding has been developing as one of the most well-known and practiced adventure sports in our capital, with Miraflores being the most popularly known point. Soaring through the air at over 800 meters high in a paraglider is an experience that everyone should live at least once in their life; the feeling of freedom is unique. That is why we present a list of 3 places to practice this sport in Lima.
Miraflores
It is one of the most exclusive and touristic districts of the capital, and also the closest point to experience the adventure of paragliding. This place offers flying over the Lima coast, providing a spectacular view of the city. Takeoff and landing take place from the paragliding site located in Antonio Raimondi Park on Malecón Cisneros. You start from 100 meters high and can reach a maximum point of 250 meters in elevation. Thanks to the good weather conditions, it is possible to experience this activity in any season, although winter is the most recommended.
Pachacámac
Located 31 kilometers away, this place is officially considered the first tourist district of Peru. People come from the center of the capital to soar over 1000 meters high practicing paragliding. There are 2 takeoff points, one from El Manzano hill and the other from Punta Blanca hill. The takeoff height is 500 meters, and you can reach over 1000 meters in elevation. The best season to experience this adventure is between December and April, when the area has optimal wind conditions for this sport. There are agencies that offer this service starting from S/ 240, depending on the inclusions and flight time.
Pasamayo
This spot is located north of Lima, on a slope of nearly vertical 400-meter-high dunes, with a length of approximately 4 kilometers. The exact takeoff point is from the Pasamayo dunes, mostly at the highest point (there is no fixed point due to the unstable terrain with constant variation). You start from 400 meters high and reach a maximum of 1000 meters in elevation; the landing point can be on the same dune or on Toma and Calla beach located below. This is a recommended scenario for experts, as the starting point presents significant difficulty. Paragliding is possible throughout the year at this location, except on days when the area experiences intense fog that obstructs visibility.
